Vaporogue : Virtual Delight
A downloadable game for Windows
Welcome To Vaporogue : Virtual Delight
Vaporogue : Virtual Delight is a low-poly Vaporwave roguelite game currently in development. It's a first-person roguelite game with light platforming and RPG elements. It's heavily inspired by games like Heavy Bullets, Binding of Isaac and Legend of Zelda.
What is it about?
The game is mainly a critique of Simulated Universe Theory and determinism mixed with retro-gaming tropes and nostalgia. All within a heavy coat of low-poly and Vaporwave.
Like with most roguelite, this game can be hard sometimes... For once, here death is permanent. This means that one strike and you're out!
Features
Different every time you play!
Every run is unique! Each new game brings new levels to be explored. There's also whole new secrets to find and new bosses to beat!
Light RPG System
This game lets you approach every challenge your way. Need to run faster? Grab lighter gears! Want to hit harder? Get heavier melee weapons! Feeling like not approaching at all? Use a bow! The choice is yours!
Class System on Crack!
Every RPGs got its class systems, and here it's no different! Traditionally, it takes a while after choosing a class to get noticeable perks. Here we're doing things differently: enters the Focus system! Here, every action you make, every gear you wear and every item you use will change your focus. Feeling like being a marksman? Just grab some marksmen gear and get yourself a bow. With the proper focus, some gear might even work better! But that's up to you to find out.
Test your Skills
The game is packed to the brim with secrets and challenges. Along the way, you might encounter such things. Feel free to try your luck and complete the challenge: it's worth the effort, believe me!
Vanquish your Enemies
Surely, you'll find some bad guys along the way. Make sure to teach them a good lesson! Some are more simple than others... But they all have one goal: end your story right there, right now! Show them what you got!
Make Your Own playlist and Vaporwave!
Not a fan of the soundtrack? No problems! This game lets you bring your MP3 to the party! Just drop your files in the designated folder and bam! It's in the game. You can even make some custom Vaporwave track by dropping your MP3 in a special folder. So even if you don't have any Vaporwave the game got you covered!
Lovely Low-Poly Retro Vaporwave Aesthetics
The game is rendered in glorious retro low-poly aesthetics. And while it IS a roguelite, forget about exploring a dirty old dungeon with gray body armour... Here, players equip themselves with light-up shoes, badminton rackets and cheesy 80s gym outfits to protect themselves.
About the project
This project officially started about a year ago in 2018, thus becoming my full-time job. Back then I've quit my day job and fully dedicate my time and energy to build this game from the ground up.
About the developer
I've always been interested in game since early childhood. I've always loved making games and seeing how people reacts to it. I have a college degree in Computer Science and has been a web developer for two years. I'm also some kind of an artist and has been using image editor and 3D modelers for a good chunk of my life too.
I've made multiple small personal games on Game Maker and it's only been after college that I decided to jump to Unity.
I'm also a music producer on my spare time too. Discovering Vaporwave inspired me to try making music.
